I decided to choose one of the Japanese literature ”I Am A Cat” by Natsume Soseiki that I read to work on. I got inspired by the author writing style which he used first person perspective to show how’s a cat’s life during Meiji period (1868-1912). I decided to switch the character to myself as a cat and the time period to present days. I’m creating a short animation about what if I was cat, what’s my daily life would be like. To show even if they’re a animal, they share same thoughts as human being sometimes.
Animation frame sketches
- Mood: nocturnal, alone, independent, mysterious, flexible, whimsy, sarcastic
- Tone: B&W colour, few sharp colours (reference from cat’s vision) create nice contrast to draw audience attention
Tutorial feedback
- Maybe try stick to the cat form
- Add a new character (owner? other cat friends?)
- Example: Toy Story, Tom & Jerry
